The New Blog

October 27th, 2008 No comments

This, I hope, will be the first of many posts on my professional blog, I wish I could have come up with something creative like Sharepoint Joel or Domi-No-Yes-Maybe, but alas.

I intend to blog here about all of the items I administer on a day-to-day basis, including Lotus Domino, Microsoft SharePoint 2007, WebSphere MQ, WebSphere Message Broker, WebSphere Application Server, and WebSphere Commerce Server. Possibly also a smattering of WebTrends, Serena Dimensions and Apache.

I chose this blog type ( hosted on my own server) for several reasons. I could use many of the products above to host a blog utilizing the underlying technology, but as you can see, I need to remain as platform-agnostic as possible. Not only do I administer the above products, but I run them on Windows, Linux (x86 and zLinux), AIX and Windows. So, I don’t get to play favorites.

I hope to add Google Adsense words to the right at some point. This is mainly for the purpose of paying for this server and hosting, nothing more. If you feel you got some valuable informatoin here, make sure to at least click on a link once in a while.

At this point I will require users to log in to comment, just to keep the comment spam to a minimum. I may play with allowing anonymous posting once I get a handle on the site, but no guarantees.

I suppose the main purpose for this blog is share what I have learned over 16 years of working with these products. I don’t have the breadth of experience that a lot of consultants have, but I do live and breathe these products day to day. I also want to utilize this to make regular contact with others in my various communities in ways other than posting comments on their blogs.

This may also be a good contact point for folks who will (hopefully) attend my session at Lotusphere that I will put on after my abstract (hopefully) gets accepted for Lotusphere 2009.
